The split of the company known as Sociedade de Empreitadas Moniz da Maia e Vaz Guedes, S.A.R.L., and the beginning of the new company, Moniz da Maia, Serra & Fortunato – Empreiteiros, S.A.R.L., now called MSF Engenharia, S.A. A year that marked the start of the construction of the Fratel Dam - MSF Group’s first construction project.

1970

The Valeira dam: the first job awarded to the Company from scratch.

1971

The beginning of construction of the “Palma” and “Laranjeiras” Buildings. The start of MSF Group activity within the Housing sector. 

1981

50% share acquisition of SONACA - Sociedade Nacional de Canalizações, S.A. 52% share acquisition of Neocivil - Sociedade de Construções Civis e Industriais, S.A. - now 100% owned by the MSF Group. 

1985

MSF Group participates in the formation of Banco Comercial Português, including total share participation equivalent to 10% of the company’s social capital.

1986

MSF Group is a founding shareholder of Nacional Factoring e Companhias de Seguros Ocidental, with total shares corresponding to 8% of the company’s social capital.

1989

Following the privatisation of Banco Totta e Açores, for which MSF put forward a proposal, MSF Group became part of the holding company Valores Ibéricos, SGPS S.A. securing a 15.25% stake in the company’s social capital.

1992

MSF Group is a joint founder of the company Plêiade - Investimentos e Participações SGPS S.A., obtaining a total shareholding of 30%. This holding company was a holder of shares in companies of national and international importance, including the much esteemed Marina de Lagos. MSF Engenharia is voted the best construction industry company of the year in the 'Revista Exame' publication of the “500 Biggest and Best of 1992".

1993

MSF Group is awarded an Oscar for the “Best Real Estate Venture of the year” by the publication ‘Revista Imobiliária’ for the “Pateo Bagatella” project, then going on to win the ‘Valmor Prize’ awarded by Lisbon Municipal Council in 1997.

1994

Conclusion of the “Marina de Lagos” construction project. MSF Group commemorates its 25th Birthday. 

1997

Beginning of the internationalisation process. The corporate name “Neocivil” is changed to “Neocivil - Construções do Algarve, S.A.”, including the transfer of the company’s headquarters to the city of Lagoson the Algarve. Marina de Lagos contracted by ‘Marlagos’ wins the “Euromarina Anchor Award”, presented by the European Association of Recreational Harbours. 

1998

Formation of the MSF – Sociedade Gestora de Participações Sociais, S.A. group holding company, followed by its first international contract: the enlargement of the aircraft parking apron and the lengthening of the runway at Sal Airport in Cape Verde. Signing of the Concessionary contract between the Portuguese Government and the Utility Company - Auto-estradas do Atlântico S.A., an MSF subsidiary, marking the entry of MSF Group into the Infrastructure Concessions sector.

1999

Formation of the company CDP-SI –Consultoria em Organização e Sistemas de Informação, S.A.

2001

MSF Engenharia obtains Quality certification as part of the “NP EN ISO 9002:1995 Certificate no. 001/01” awarded by CERTICON. The company “MSF Polska, Sp.z.o.o.” is incorporated under Polish law, with head offices located in the city of Warsaw.

2002

The company “MSF Bulgaria OOD” is formed, its head offices being based in the city of Sofia, as well as the company "MSF Cabo Verde S.A.", its head offices based in the city of Mindelo, both 100% owned by the MSF Group. The first MSF Group motorway concession company, Auto-estradas do Atlântico, enters into full operation.

2003

MSF Engenharia is awarded the International standard ‘NP EN ISSO 9001:2000 Certificate’ by CERTICON, for its Quality Management System. Acquisition goes ahead of a significant stake in the company BIG – Banco de Investimento Global, S.A.

2004

Openingof the new central MSF Engenharia facilities in OTA, including warehouse facilities, workshops and machinery storage areas. 

2005

Reorganisation of MSF Group’s share ownership structure, including the formation of MSF TUR.IM, SGPS, S.A. and MSF Concessões, SGPS, S.A.

2007

Acquisition of a 50% stake in Indubel - Indústrias de Betão, S.A.. MSF Engenharia obtains certification in the Safety and Environment sectors, through “NP 4397 (OHSAS 18001:1999) - Certificate no. 055/07” and “NP ENISO 14001:2004 - Certificate no. 054/07” both awarded through CERTICON.

2009

The 40th anniversary since the founding of the MSF Group. The company opens its new Head Offices in the Natura Towers buildings in Lisbon. The company changes its name from MSF - Moniz da Maia, Serra & Fortunato - Empreiteiros, S.A. to MSF Engenharia S.A. The Group’s new visual identity is launched. SGS awards Indubel with Quality Management System certification according to the ISO 9001 Standard for pre-manufacturing services - the company’s main area of activity.

2010

The Group subsidiaries are given various awards: IMCI 5 stars to Marina de Lagos; Natura Towers is awarded the Class A+ National Energy Certification and Indoor Air Quality in Buildings, by ADENE,  the Iberoeka ECO2 Innovation Certificate from CYTED; two Real Estate Oscars 2010 for the most energetically efficient and best office building; two national real estate awards in 2010 awarded by SIL in the energy efficiency and sustainable construction categories, and the “Best use of Sustainability Practice +”  given by the Lisbon Town Hall and the Rock in Rio festival.

2011

Natura Towers wins the “Best new European building of the year” award, given at the Annual Green Building Awards 2011, by the European Commission in Brussels.MSF Engenharia opens its branch office in Gabon.

2012

The Royal Óbidos Spa & Golf Resort opens to the general public, as part of the Tourism and Real Estate sector. The Centro Náutico de Algés – The Lisbon Boatyard and Columbia Hospitality International both begin activities. The beginning of 2012 also coincides with the Group’s expansion into the Middle East through creation of the MSF Construction Qatar subsidiary.

2013

MSF restructured its organization by creating various Market Regions with the objective of further international expansion. Sale of the investment stake in Banco BiG.

2014

Opening of the Evolutee Hotel at the Royal Óbidos Spa & Golf Resort, including the Elemental Spa, Kobe Steak & Sushi Restaurant and the conference centre. The 5-star boutique hotel interiors were designed by the renowned yoo Studio, founded by John Hitchcox and acclaimed designer Philippe Starck. 

 

2015

Royal Óbidos Spa & Golf Resort, Óbidos, Portugal has been awarded the prestigious title of 2016 European Golf Resort of the Year at the IAGTO Awards, and the title of Portugal's Best Golf Course at the World Golf Awards 2015.
