WORLD RECORD IN KITESURFING BEAT AT LAGOS MARINA

Marina de Lagos was the stage of the world record of distance travelled without stopping by kitesurf. Francisco Lufinha, former national champion of this sport, 30 years old, arrived at Marina de Lagos on the 18thSeptember, having travelled 307,5 nautical miles (569 km) on a kiteboard, finishing the Mini Kitesurf Odyssey 29 hours after leaving the Douroriver.

The journey was accompanied by two supporting RIBs, with a crew of five, including two witnesses for the homologation of the world record. The previous world record (199 nautical miles) was beaten off the coast of Sines, when Francisco Lufinha passed the milestone of 200 miles. The athlete trained intensely during four months for this odyssey, following an encompassing plan of diet, physical training and physiotherapy. Upon arrival, Francisco and his technical team stayed at the Marina Club Lagos Resort.

Marinade Lagos, which sponsored Francisco Lufinha, is extremely proud to be associated to this exceptional moment, tangible evidence of pioneerism, drive and the pushing of limits.
